The Union Cycliste International is
the world governing body for most international
cycling competitions. It lays down the rules for
professional bike races. These rules include regulations
as to how a bike should look. These rules change
from time to time. The latest revision includes
restrictions banning the use of frame designs
deviating from the traditional diamond shape.
Thus, the TOTAL ECLIPSE FRAME is currently not allowed for use in UCI-sanctioned
events. It may not be used in events held under the legislation of the UCI. Only
traditional bikes may be used in such competitions.
In all other events you are perfectly free to choose the most efficient frame:
The TOTAL ELIPSE FRAME is legal in any USCF domestic race, all organized rides,
triathlons, duathlons, and long-distance competitions like the Race Across America,
the Race Across The Alps, or the famous PBP.
Where do UCI rules apply?
UCI rules have to be observed in any competition requiring an UCI-license to
enter. In these events you must resort to traditional frame designs. That includes
pro races and international amateur races. Some national federations also abide
by these UCI regulations.
Where do UCI rules not apply?
If you live in the United States and do not compete internationally, you are
free to use the most advanced frame design in all USCF domestic races. The same
holds for participation in events like Lance’s Ride for the Roses, the
Hotter’n Hell Hundred, and all non-competitive events like the many MS
rides. Also, if you are competing in triathlons or public races you are free
to ride the TOTAL ECLIPSE FRAME (just as any Pro racer may do to make his thousands
of miles of training a more pleasurable experience).
A look beyond the UCI horizon
Riders not bound by outdated UCI legislation have long been looking for more
modern frame designs. A look at the frames ridden by professionals shows that
the most significant advantages can be found with beam-type bikes. 80% of the
participants in the Race Across America have been using such designs in recent
years. The fastest bike split at the IRONMAN-triathlon Hawaii was set on a beam
bike. The reasons are simple: Beam bikes are more aerodynamic AND more comfortable.
And because its design eliminates any pedal pogo, the TOTAL ECLIPSE FRAME is
the most efficient of them all!
The UCI rulebook was written by race officials, not by racers or engineers. Officials
like to keep things the way they were back when they were still out there riding
bikes. We take note of this fact, but choose to ignore it! Our goal is not to
build the most traditional looking frame. We do not follow some outdated rulebook.
Instead, we observe the laws of physics to serve you with the best frames possible. |

Simply
unfair
The UCI wants equal chances for all. We want the opposite: The fastest equipment
for our riders. Little wonder our frames are not UCI-legal! |
